WHO: Who can participate?
Anyone! Classic cars are most welcome, of course, but anything with an engine goes. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors - Bring 'em on down.

WHY: This car show is in honour of a well loved member of the Manotick community, Mike Shay. He spent over 18 years at Manotick Garage, taking care of everyone's vehicles and keeping them safe on the road. This is where I had the privilege of working alongside and learning from him. Taste of Manotick was an event enjoyed by Mike every year. It was only fitting to have the addition of a charity car show, to honour his lively spirit. See The Shay Way to get to know Mikey.

HOW: How do I register?
Click the registration button below to fill out a form online. OR: Stop by the shop, Manotick Garage, 5549 Manotick Main St, and fill out a form in person.

REGISTRATION: Is there a registration fee?
No registration fee required. Instead, I ask for a donation to Mittens from Mikey: New or gently used clothing items or hygiene products - Or a monetary donation of your choosing, to support The Ottawa Mission. Come as you are and give what you can, we do this event Mikey style.

The 1st Annual Shay Way Memorial Car Show
2024 Event
Instead of requiring a show entry fee, we asked for donations to Mittens from Mikey for The Ottawa Mission. We filled the back of a truck with new and gently used clothing items & other essentials.
The Shay Way Build
The star of the car show is this beautiful build that belongs to Mike Shay's longtime friend, Doug Watson. The two grew up together, working on cars at the old Petro Canada in Manotick. Doug purchased the car at 15, trading his brother a stereo for it.
Mike began his 40+ year long relationship with the Cougar when they were just teenagers. Fast forward many years later, Mike was in the process of getting the car running again, and died before seeing it on the road. Mike's ashes were driven to his funeral in the Cougar on May 12th, 2023.

A Taste of Manotick
The Shay Way Memorial Car Show was pleased to be the newest addition to the Manotick BIA's annual event, Taste of Manotick. This is an event that was loved and enjoyed by Mikey every year. This made it all the more special, and fitting, to take part, honouring his legacy by spending time with local's whos classic cars he spent many years fixing.
